Comet ISON: Remote Viewer Ed Dames gets nervous

Comet Hale Bopp was discovered on July 23, 1995 and one of the brightest seen for many decades. It was visible to the naked eye for a record 18 months, twice as long as the previous record holder, the Great Comet of 1811. Hale–Bopp met or exceeded most predictions when it passed perihelion on April 1, 1997. The comet's dust tail roughly followed the path of the comet's orbit and yielded no danger for Earth.

Comet ISON is different. This comet follows the path of the Great Comet of 1811. This comet, according to NASA will overrule the brightness of Hale Bopp, later this year.

OK, ISON will not be a threat to Earth - getting no closer to Earth than about 40 million miles, but a new model of the debris flowing from Comet ISON suggests that the sungrazer could dust the Earth around January 12, 2014.

The Solar Cycle according to NASA peaks in the second half of 2013, and possible last in 2014.

End of this year, early 2014, in the same time frame: Comet ISON and the peak of the Solar Cycle!

Monstrous whirlpool in Dviete, Latvia swallows everything in its path (Video)

Monstrous whirlpool in parish Dviete, Latvia near the banks of the Daugava River, swallows everything in its path.

Swallowing everything dragged towards its direction, this monstrous whirlpool looks as if a plug has been pulled from the ground beneath.

Huge chunks of ice? Gone. Floating islands of debris? Annihilated.

Whirlpools in nature occur as a result of fast moving currents meeting one another in opposite directions.

The whirlpool in Latvia has been formed by water from the swollen river flowing into an inlet on the upstream side of a bridge. All of the debris is funneled under the road on which spectators are standing and flows downstream.

According to the European Federation for Rural Tourism, Latvia's Dviete river valley, where this video was filmed, is home to a massive wetland during flooding season.

Amazing Fireball Falls From The Sky in Texas 2013

Amazing images of a Fireball that falls from the sky in Texas. The photographs were taken on December 13, 2012, by our regular reader Pamela Anderson.

Last December, Earth went through a a stream of debris from "rock comet" 3200 Phaethon and Comet Wirtanen. That time period was also the peak of the strong annual Geminid meteor shower.

We assume that the wonderful images are related to debris of the meteor shower of Comet Wirtanen / Geminid shower or is it something else? We would like to know your opinion.

Meteorite Crashes Through Roof Of House in Connecticut - Apr 20, 2013

A rock that crashed through a house in Connecticut last weekend has been confirmed to be a meteorite.

Homeowner Larry Beck called police in Wolcott, CT at 10:30 a.m. on April 20, 2013 and said a baseball-sized rock crashed through his home the night before, causing damage to his roof and pipes in the attic before cracking the ceiling in his kitchen.

Police reported that people from several towns in the area had called to report a loud boom that rattled windows last Friday evening.

Reports say that at first, police thought the rock was a broken piece of airport runway concrete that had dropped from a plane when landing gear was being lowered. The home is near two airports.

After examining the object on Tuesday, Stefan Nicolescu, the collections manager for the Mineralogy Division at the Yale Peabody Museum confirmed it was in fact a meteorite, likely a chondrite.

Anticipation is building as Comet ISON plunges into the inner solar system for a close encounter with the sun in November 2013 and expected to become a bright naked-eye object later this year, (arrives on Dec. 26, 2013. 

Blasted at point-blank range by solar radiation, the sungrazer will likely become one of the finest comets in many years. 

When NASA's Swift spacecraft observed the comet in January 2013, it was still near the orbit of Jupiter, but already very active. More than 112,000 pounds of dust were spewing from the comet's nucleus every minute.

Massive Earthquake 7.8 struck Kash, Iran - Apr 16, 2013

A powerful earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale has struck Iran's southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan today, reportedly killing at least 40 people in the second deadly quake in the area in less than a week.

Hundreds of people are still missing and feared dead, more than 850 people injured in the disaster.

The IRSC also reported that the epicenter of the quake was situated 81 kilometers north of the city of Saravan.

According to the United States Geographical Survey (USGS) the quake measured 7.8 on the Richter scale and was powerful enough to be felt as far away as New Delhi, India and the Gulf cities of Dubai and Bahrain.

 

Meteor explodes in a ball of fire above Spain - Apr 15, 2013 (Video)

A brilliant ball of flame streaked across the sky above the Spanish capital Madrid, dazzling stargazers and astronomers alike.

The celestial display was so bright it could be seen across the entire country.

The eye-popping moment was caught on camera by the Hita Observatory at the University of Huelva at around 11:45pm local time (21:45 GMT).

The object struck the atmosphere above the Villamuelas district in the province of Toledo, southwest of Madrid.

The impact was so abrupt that the object immediately caught fire, creating a ball of flame around 100 kilometers above the Earth,” The meteor then shot towards Madrid at over 75,000 kilometers an hour before disintegrating completely at an altitude of 70 kilometers.

The explosion as the fireball entered the atmosphere sparked comparisons with the 500-kiloton explosion caused by the meteorite that fell over the Russian city of Chelyabinsk in February.

Earth Directed Powerful M6.5 Solar Flare / CME - Apr 11, 2013

Active Region 11719 unleashed a powerful M6.5 Solar Flare at 07:29 UTC today.

The M-Class eruption will have a strong coronal mass ejection associated and may have earth-bound or earth directed components as the region was close to being in an earth-facing position at the time of eruption.

Latest images show a strong Coronal Mass Ejection(CME) heading earths way, it is estimated that impact on earths magnetic field should occur late April 13th and a possible G2 or G3 Class Geomagnetic storm sometime during April 14th.

Wonders of the Universe: Black Hole Eats a Super-Jupiter

The process that makes black holes.

Armed with state-of-the-art supercomputer models, scientists have shown that colliding neutron stars can produce the energetic jet required for a gamma-ray burst. Earlier simulations demonstrated that mergers could make black holes.

Others had shown that the high-speed particle jets needed to make a gamma-ray burst would continue if placed in the swirling wreckage of a recent merger.

Now, the simulations reveal the middle step of the process--how the merging stars' magnetic field organizes itself into outwardly directed components capable of forming a jet.

The Damiana supercomputer at Germany's Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics needed six weeks to reveal the details of a process that unfolds in just 35 thousandths of a second--less than the blink of an eye.



Black Hole Consumes a Super-Jupiter.

Astronomers using ESA's Integral and XMM-Newton space telescopes, NASA's Swift and the MAXI (Monitor of All-sky X-ray Image) instrument on the International Space Station have made the first detection of a substellar object being disrupted by a black hole.

The discovery was made in the 47 million-light-year-distant galaxy, NGC 4845, where a substellar object moving through space encountered the black hole.

During this encouter, debris becomes heated and emits a blast of X-ray radiation before fading away.

The object lies in the mass range of 14--30 Jupiter masses, corresponding to either a brown dwarf or a large gas planet.credit: ESA.

NASA Wise Telescope Mission: Sun May Still Have Low-Mass Solar Companion

Our sun may indeed have a far-flung gravitationally-bound companion — just not with the size or orbit that could have triggered periodicity in earth’s paleontological record, say astrophysicists now actively searching data from NASA’s WISE (Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer) spacecraft.

For decades astronomers and paleontologists have debated whether our sun has a stellar mass M-dwarf companion dubbed “Nemesis” that could have caused a 26 million-year periodicity in earth’s asteroidal and cometary impact record.

Such a small M-dwarf star has long been ruled out by WISE data, since observers would surely have spotted an object larger than roughly five Jupiter masses.

However, John Matese and Dan Whitmire, two astrophysicists at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette, continue to scour the spacecraft’s data for the signatures of “Tyche,” a totally different type of solar companion. Unlike Nemesis, Tyche (or Nemesis’ good sister), is a hypothetical 1 to 4 Jupiter-mass object that would lie about a third of a light year away, on a very long four million-year nearly circular solar orbit inclined roughly 45 degrees to the plane of our solar system.

“Physically, it would be a captured planet from another star in the complex of stars and clouds from which the sun formed, We don’t think it formed like a star. But the door is definitely still open for a companion of mass less than about two Jupiters, said Whitmare. Read more

Professors Whitmare and Matese first proposed the existence of Tyche (Hercolubus, Planet X, Nibiru) to explain why many of these long-period comets were coming from the wrong direction. In their paper, published in the February 2011 issue of Icarus, the international journal of solar system studies, they report that more than 20 percent too many of the long-period comets observed since 1898 arrive from a band circling the sky at a higher angle than predicted by the galactic-tide theory. And Prof Daniel Whitmire wrote (article February 2011) that he believes the data may prove Tyche's existence within two years.

During the years 2010 and 2011 there was a lot of media attention to this unknown planet and even some believe proof has already been garnered by Nasa with its space telescope, Wise. Scientists have known about this planet since 1983 and they've been using WISE and IRAS to monitor it.

It's now 2 years later...

It's time for NASA and scientists to inform us about this planet (Tyche, Planet X, Nibiru) approaching in the short term.

Even they say that they continue to analyze the data for the signatures of this planet, we may assume that they already know everything about this planet and it will be impossible to hide for more time.

 

Collision Course? Comet 2013 A1 is heading for Mars

Comet 2013 A1 is heading for Mars, and there is a chance that it might hit the Red Planet in October 2014.

Current solutions put the odds of impact at 1 in 2000.

The nucleus of the comet is probably 1 to 3 km in diameter, and it is coming in fast, around 56 km/s (125,000 mph).

If it does hit Mars, it would deliver as much energy as 35 million megatons of TNT.

An impact wouldn't necessarily mean the end of NASA's Mars program. But it would transform the program- along with Mars itself.

Sinkhole! Amazing footage of a land sink in China swallowing a passerby - Mar 26, 2013

A road in one living community in Shenzhen, S China's Guangdong Province, subsided and left a big hollow as deep as the height of a four-floor building on Mar 26 afternoon.

A very unlucky security guard, the 25-year Yang Jiabin who happened to be walking past, never stood a chance. He died after efforts to revive him at the hospital failed.

It is unclear what caused the tragedy.

Mysterious 'UFO' Snow Circles in Eden, NY - Mar 25, 2013

A mystery of sorts has unfolded in the backyard of one of our viewers in Eden. It happened Friday evening as Peggy Gervase was looking out from the deck of her home at a nearby pond.

She spotted what appeared to be a series of concentric circles that had opened in the snow covering the pond. It almost resembled the unusual phenomena known as crop circles. But again this occurred on the surface of a pond.

Gervase posted pictures on FB and there were nearly 40,000 views with more than 200 comments. They contained explanations of what may have caused it. They included everything from underground springs to melting ice, meteors, methane gas, gas expelled by fish and ducks, and of course aliens.

 

The phenomenon is probably caused by ice melting and forming a larger radius as it melts. The mysterious thing about these snow circles is that they look like a UFO landed on the ice.
